Maybe you are like me and decided your computer needs to start pulling it's own weight and make you some money. Is it really possible or is just a big pipe dream? I know it is possible and would like to give you some ideas on how you can get started.

Please note here I am not saying what you should or ought to do, as in do these things or you will surely be doomed. I am not giving you a guarantee or promising what you can expect to make. I certainly am not offering any hype or blowing smoke at any of your body parts. If you were looking for instant cash for life, money for doing nothing at all, or millions earned while you just hang out, sorry you are in the wrong place. Feel free to click out now, you won't find me saying any of these things.

First of all, is working for yourself something you want to do? Yes it's nice to think not taking orders from anyone would be a good thing. At the same time this means you are the one responsible. If you find it hard to be accountable for what you do, this may not be for you.

Since you are wanting to start a business, it only makes sense to check it out. Ok you have an interest in something, do searches on it. Find out if others are interested as well. If you have something you are comfortable with and could share with others, then you are off to a good start. Having a passion for something will take you a lot further than gee it would be nice to make some money.

Look at what others have to offer in your chosen interest. It could be anything from tips to reports; some will do how-tos or go even further and offer consulting. There are many different degrees to which this can be done, but it all comes down to information. So with your passion, whatever it may be, you can offer your own information.

Write about what is your passion, show your unique ideas. If you submit articles to sites or share with user groups, you will likely see you know more than you first thought you did. Now you are learning as you go and having fun. This may be a good time to start a web log or blog. Share your passion and make money as well.

In time you will want to create your own information product, say an ebook or a paid report. That may be a bit much now but you can still promote products for others. Join an affiliate program, promote it from your blog or site. You will make a commission for sales made through you and learn more about the whole process.

Some do just fine as only affiliates, and some prefer to do their own products. Or don't limit yourself and do both?

If you like the idea of doing your own products, you can always expand on them. Say you have an ebook that goes over well, you could add more to it and make it into an email course. Or if people come to see you as an expert, you could do teleseminars or even private consultations.

To use any of these ideas you will need to learn more information. We are all at different levels of technology; some just learned how to turn a computer on while some are far more advanced. There are many things that you will need to know but you sure don't have to learn them all at once.

When you get to something you don't know how to do, try looking it up in a search if that is your learning style. Ask your geeky friend who will be glad you took an interest. Look at user groups or try a forum, great resources. Not everyone will be willing to help you but there are some very nice people online.

Sadly there are also some nasty people online; as a rule if something sounds too good to be true, it is! Is it reasonable to think you can make millions with the push of a button? No. Does a guarantee to make a huge amount your first month seem right? No. Can you make seven figures a year working one hour every other week? No. It sounds silly to even say this but trust me you will come across these and more.

Most important of all, have fun. Do what you love and love what you do. If you choose to do something and don't enjoy it, why would you bother?

These are some very basic ideas, any of them could be expanded on a lot. Take your passion and put it to work for you. Hopefully you have a passion so go one step further and look into it. Taking that first step is a very good place to start!
