Once you have a domain registered, you will want to create web pages and upload them to a server. That sever is your hosting company.
The other day I designed a site for a local spring water company, registered the domain, hosted it on the server, and the site was up and running in less than 24 hours.
Some hosting companies give you free hosting if you buy their program or software while others give you free software if you pay for the hosting.
But most hosting companies want your hosting business and there are plenty of free goodies such as shopping cart software to keep you there.
Some hosting companies let you host as many domains as you want at a low single monthly charge. Some give you all the space you need for your web pages at that same cost. So, hosting is the best deal you can get in this Internet world.
Most hosting companies have great customer service. I've had problems with a few hosting companies in the past because of poor customer service. I won't mention their names because they are reputable companies which had some problems in the past which have been resolved. Some times one hosting company will buy another company which can lead to confusion.
Time cures all.
If you join Wealthy Affiliate University they will host your site as part of the monthly fee.
There are plenty of free hosting sites. Your ISP probably has one reserved for you. But free sites are often limited, paste ads on your site, or in general have long complicated names. Few of us great gurus-wait, I'm not a guru-Internet marketers use them. In fact, I don't know any marketer that uses a free site.
For a survey of low-cost hosting companies go to: http://www.webhostingchoice.com/
When you see the present ratings make sure that you check on the actual review and that you visit the site.
Some of these companies have marvelous deals.
GoDaddy is today rated in the 10th position although it was rated 9th when I first went to the site, so the sites are continually rated.
Any of the top ten hosting companies are suitable for many of us, but maybe you have special needs.
The top rated site today, which was second a few minutes ago, is http://www.StartLogic.com
Make sure you read the review before you visit the site.
When you get to the site, click on "ProLogic." You will see the options including shopping cart software.
Go down the list of the best hosting companies and find the one you like.
I use a dedicated server at GoDaddy.com which allows me to put up 30 domains. Perhaps I could get better service for less money elsewhere as shown in the reviews, but I'm too old to go through the hassle of changing hosting companies.
Besides I know the GoDaddy service techs and I can ask how the weather is in AZ where we use to live.
Well, let us sell!
That will be swell!
Okay! I agree! I'm nuts!
